No Pasta Hut for Pizza Hut

Singapore – Pizza Hut may have temporarily rebranded itself as Pasta Hut in the UK to convey a healthier image, but there are no plans for a similar move for the pizza chain in Singapore. Pizza Hut in the UK is introducing healthier options, such as pastas into its menus, and will temporarily rename 30 of its stores as Pasta Hut in a UK$18 million revamp.

Pizza Hut in the US introduced pastas in April, but kept its original name while according to overseas media, Pizza Hut restaurants in Australia are considering the name change to Pasta Hut. However, Pizza Hut Singapore has no immediate plans to make the brand change. “At this point we have no intention to pursue this for Singapore,” Juliana Lim, marketing director for Pizza Hut Singapore, said. In September Pizza Hut Singapore launched a pitch for its creative ad account after a “mutual” parting of ways with BBDO. Lim said the pitch presentation will be conducted over the next two days, with agencies JWT, Y&R, Bates141 and Grey involved. Lim said a decision is expected before the end of October.
